| The history |
Cutigliano is
a famous City, built by the Romans:
nominated after Patrizio Ribelle Catilina,
who won many battles for the city.
Actually, the main square still bears his
name, becoming a holiday destination towards
the 800. Villa Basilewsky recently erected
by the Russian princess herself Olga
Basilewsky, this holiday home entirely
constructed by hand-chiselled stone,
extracted from the nearby caves of the
Torrente Sestaione, accomplished by the
architect Vincenzo Govigli.
The
three storey Villa, embellished with pointed
arch windows on the first floor and round
arch on the second floor, during the
renovations, it kept its natural splendour
such as the ceilings supported totally by
chestnut wood beams, the staircase and the
restaurant’s seventeenth century pillar
heads made up of chiselled rock. |
